Fitness and swimming have been my passion for most of my life. Throughout my childhood and schooling my one goal was to become an Olympian and to race against the best in the world and that aim remained my focus throughout my teenage years and my time at university. I fulfilled this ambition shortly after my 22nd birthday.

I continued competing internationally for a further two years winning a World Championship silver medal in the process before retiring in 2006 when I turned my attention to coaching. Throughout my international career I had the privilege of being trained by some of the world’s leading swim and strength and conditioning coaches from Great Britain, America, Australia, South Africa and Russia. This, coupled with my own first-hand experience of elite level performance, provided me with the perfect platform from which to give back to the sport my own unique skills and expertise.

After a successful start to my coaching career in South Africa, I returned to the UK to continue my development both from a pool and land perspective. I qualified as an advanced personal trainer, nutritional advisor and strength and conditioning coach and subsequently founded Robin Francis Fitness in 2008.

Seven years have passed since I hung up my goggles during which time I have achieved equal success guiding others in both a performance and exercise capacity. I have coached swimmer Hannah Russell to a World Championship gold medal in Montreal, Canada, in 2013. I have helped my other clients to improve their body confidence and achieve supreme physical fitness, every challenge and case being as exciting and of equal importance to me.

The common denominator of absolutely everyone I have worked with has been self-improvement and ultimate success.

To have the privilege of training people of all ages and abilities to achieve more than they ever considered possible brings me huge gratification.

Through progressive and balanced training my aim is to achieve not only improved physical aesthetics and capability but more importantly an instilled sense of pride, confidence and mental fortitude that has relevance far beyond the gym, pool, studio or running track. To have mutual trust, confidentiality, empathy and acceptance of each individual’s unique goal is a must and to be unconditionally supportive to them as a role model to guide, inspire, motivate and challenge throughout their developmental journey from beginning to end. This process is what I believe in and it has the potential to change lives in a positive way.
